Every laparoscopic procedure already produces video. Very little of it is put to use afterwards.
Surgical video is generated continuously and, in most departments, discarded or archived without being looked at again. The information it holds — about technique, about workflow, about how a department actually operates — goes with it.
A surgeon-controlled camera sits at the point where that video is created.
Orvue is being developed as a platform rather than an instrument, so that the data path is a design consideration from the start rather than something retrofitted.
What that path is eventually used for is a question for clinical partners, regulators and data protection review — not one to be answered by engineering alone.
This is direction, not a shipped capability. No data product is available, and no claims are made about clinical or operational value.
